Railway Lakes
Whittlesey
Peterborough
Cambridgeshire
Railway Lakes conprises
of two lakes covering 2.5 acres. The first lake being the largest and deepest,
with depths dropping to 35 feet. . The main stock in this lake is carp which
have been caught up to 30lb plus. Popular baits on the deep lake are pastes and
sweetcorn but maggots will catch carp up in the water in the summer. The shallow
lake is smaller but houses a huge amount of fish including tench, bream, roach,
rudd and perch and carp from a few onces to well into double figures. The main method on this water is to fish the pole at four
metres from the bank. This water is very popular with match and pleasure anglers
alike. Weights often run up into double figures. Because of the depth the
water responds well to either pole or waggler using maggots or sweetcorn as
bait.
Where to find
